Hi everyone. I was approached last night by a friend looking to find a lawyer that specializes in father's rights. His soon-to-be-ex has gotten herself into a life of partying and drugs, he doesn't want his young children exposed to all of that, and wants physical custody of their children. His current lawyer isn't too willing to fight for him, and he is looking for a new lawyer.

Since I do not live in the same city (I'm western NY and he is the Albany area), is there a resource out there that lists father's rights lawyers.

We had an old link to "Custody Professionals" at one time. I'll have to do some digging this next week to see if I can find that. Meantime try a search on Google for Father's Rights and Albany. See what you get. Best of luck to your friend, Tim.

Thanks for the Information. I remember going through the process my friend is going through. It took me just over 5 years and was eventually awarded custody of my 3. Quite unusual. She works for the family services agencies. I didn't think I had a chance!

It looks like Robert's old site is gone nopw. When I go to Custody Pro now I get some links to what could be helpful sites though. Anyone else have ideas for Tim's friend?

Thanks for digging. I contacted the Father's Rights Association of NYS in the capital region (which includes Albany). The first thing they require is to join their association, and then they provide some info. We'll see how much it is to join and go from there. I'll have him check out custodypro.com. Thanks again for the info!

Thanks for all of the help. Much to my surprise, the court system in NYS awarded full custody to my friend. I was expected and preparing him for a long, drawn out, costly battle, however, it was all over in a day and he now has his son. I may have hope for the legal system! Thansk again.

Tim, Always good to hear such news! Thanks for letting us know how it turned out. Point your friend our way. I'm sure others would benefit from reading a bit of his story here on GF.

Take care!
