Hi All,

Tomorrow I am going to a meeting with Mrs Iris Robinson, my local Member of Parliament to discuss her recent negative comments regarding civil partnership and adoption for same sex couples.

She has consistantly voted against these when they came up for debate and votes and is currently on the ....same sex couples aren't safe to let kids be adopted by them band waggon....

Her party (THE Democratic Unionist Party..leader Ian Paisley!) is very right wing and biblically minded in this respect. For example their Environment spokesperson resigned recently due to ridicule by the party over his green stance and proposals!!!

I just want her to meet a gay man/parent/partner and see what we are like, why she should represent our rights too and not be part of a movement that condones/ actively encourages some form of acceptable prejudice. If we really are 10% of the electorate then we require her respect and attention as much as any other minority....not special rights just equal ones will do thankyou very much.

Any good points to make or arguements for our position gratefully accepted.

Vincent, I am sure I am too late to be of help, but then I cannot imagine anything I could say that would be better than her receiving a visit from you.
