This article from MSN personals is worth a read. While I cannot imagine dating someone for two weeks before telling him I'm a dad (that's just the sort of thing someone would know in getting to know me BEFORE the first date), the rest of the article is interesting. Mostly, I think because when we started this little group on msn four years ago, there were NO articles of this nature on msn at all.

Exploring the Attic |
I saw the MSN article a while ago. I too always tell people right away. Actually, without even having to think about it because talking about my kids is second nature to me. I cliped the article and plan to give it to the next guy I start dating seriously. My biggest problem is NO TIME to date. Guys don't think I like them if there is two weeks between my availability for a date, lol.

Exploring the Attic |
I second what David (the 2nd? - Alphapax) has to say. I keep thinking that as my son gets older, I will have more availability to date. Then again... maybe it's because I pick my son up from childcare every weekday... and work 2 jobs (trying to get one that pays as well as the 2)... or...
Who do I need more... my son, or my partner... (Of course the answer will probably change in the next 12 years - as his dependency changes So today, since I don't have him, I am going to sort through his clothes and donate/sell what doesn't fit anymore - most of them - and go to my local gay sports bar and watch a football game (Real American Football, not the European Football - although they are more fun to look at Ok... rambling now... thanks for the link! >>> If you can't be good, be good at it! <<< |

Buying the House! |
this article was written from the perspective of a single gay (hot) guy dating another gay guy who happens to be a father.
I'm not sure how relevant or helpful it might be for someone who IS a gay father dating another gay guy. As usual, it seems to be more of an article about something different from the normal gay circles. Jim |

Buying the House! |
Just finished reading the MSN article about dating a gay guy with kids. The funniest thing to me was after 2 weeks, imagining living together !!
A couple of the other guys have mentioned, as well; I cannot fathom dating for a couple of weeks and not somehow mentioning I have children. I am hoping the writer is only using the scenario to "only set the stage" for the article. Once we get past that, let's don't "throw the baby out with the bath water", so to speak. There are some very good points for the gay man, who may be interested in dating one of us, fabulous guys, called "Gay Dads". In my lowly opinion.. a good article.
