Buying the House! |
I've noticed something recently both at a personal level with my family and some close friends and also at a public level with people I meet at the airport or with public political figures.
Regardless of whether you're talking about a moral/religous issue like homosexuality or gay marriage, or a political issue like the war in Iraq, terrorism, etc., the right wing fanatics are suddenly becoming muted. Silent, almost like there is this slow motion realization of ....oops, um, yeah there really are nine planets in orbit around the sun and the earth really isn't the center of the universe and we're only within a very small galaxy, etc.... Does anyone else see this? Jim |

I think there is a realization that the silent majority...who are generally reasonable live and let live types are sick of the minority fanatical groups that try to make so much out of these issues...often from a moral perspective...as if they are the only ones with a moral fibre in their being. Also the right wings must know firstly that less and less people see the 'old teatament'style approach as relevant to their lives today...and the old adage regarding seeing first to the log in your own eye i.e. those groups need to look at their own communities and deal with the crises of teen age pregnacies/divorce/ substance abuse/ etc etc....and failing support.
However they are I feel still very much into lobbying and pandering to peoples fears, however the more gay/single parent/ethnic minority/disabled/etc etc people/groups that stand up and be counted and carry their extended families and friends with them...well society really does become more inclusive, humane and rights for all based. Cheerio for now...Vincent..xx "Every man over 40 is a scoundrel" |
