The world is full of religious right winged bigoted zealots, pandering to the most base human fears and anxieties. They will always be there. I choose not to visit their sites, it only gives them encouragement, allows them to boast of their hollow support from visitors to their sites. There is nothing new to learn from this type of person or their ways....I choose to monitor that they don't get into our schools or afforded a place in societal structures that they don't warrant. Their actions are abhorrant to the majority of right thinking people and I trust men and women who are believers and have christain love in their hearts.

Cheerio for now...Vincent..xx

Ok I just re-read that rather sanctimonious posting by me!!! sigh. Well yeah I hope and trust many christians do feel able to love in a christlike way their fellow human beings who are amongst other things gay. It's just all religion....I mean look at what's going on now with a complete sense of humour failure re the prophet mohammed.....seems diversive, it has resulted in people, cultures countries waging various forms of war against each other....is that really what a Divine Being demands of their followers to constantly rule the flock by fear!!!!

Again I mean no insult to any Dads who are spiritual...but do you get what i'm muttering about...AGAIN, yes I know David...Smokey headbashing chatting help

Ok I know this is turning into some kind of schizo personal conversation here but...any of you guys out there that have 'faith'...why do you still have it in the light of the world today and the state of'religion' in general. Now I'm not asking for proof positive or scientifically provable signs etc, but have any of you really powerfully witnessed the power of god( what ever you call him/her/they) in action recently?

Vincent...x

National Public Radio just did a thing on Phelps this evening as I was sick. What is scary is that this man truly believes what he is saying and has twisted the minds of children that his way is right. The good news is that states are quietly creating laws to keep him isolated. But it is only a matter of time before this wingnut sues that his civil rights are being violated and gets his day in court to further his cause of evil.

Groups are counterprotesting. I suspect it is only a matter of time before Mr. Phelps is either found deceased or drops dead beause the Good Lord found the stupidity eraser.

Why Do I Have Faith?
By Jay

In my everyday life, I am confronted by the evil that men do...to themselves, each other and their children. My own life as of this moment is filled with great uncertainty and sadness. But I see the beauty in the world. I see it in my children. I am present to the miracle of being. I see the good that man is capable of in the face of monsters. Where there are shadows, there is light. Where evil lives, goodness is there to counter it. For every bigoted, narrow, twisted human being there is a kind and gentle heart to heal the wounds. That is the profound balance of the Universe and it is no accident, it is Divine. the end

Vincent,

I'm right there with you with all of your comments.

Except for the degree of fanatacism, personally, I cannot tell the difference between a Taliban member in Afghanistan and a "Christian" adhering to the beliefs of this Phelps sack of $%*^.

Just as you probably won't see large numbers of high ranking religous leaders denouncing and condemning the violence and ridiculousness of the riots and destruction in the Middle East over some stupid cartoons, you won't see a single high profile "Christian" leader denouncing attacks on liberties such as adoption restrictions on gays, job and housing discrimination, etc. And this is but one area-homosexuality & [in]conpatibility with "Christianity".

Not trying to bash 'Christians' but I just can't see any reconciliation.

I also don't see any high ranking Christian Leaders condemning Phelps... at least not very loudly. Where is billy Grahm, Jerry Falwell, etc. on the issue of Phelps? Do they perhaps secretly support what he is doing? Where does Phelps get his endless supply of money that allows his troops to fly all over the country to protest soldier funerals, etc.?
