Yup, it's that time again in Belfast. I...we, intend to go to the Pride march in Belfast on Sat, despite legal challenges to the right to march and the knowledge that the christian right will be there protesting!! I also hope to attend some of the work shops re policing, human rights, the gay cinema showings....party in the park after the march...oh and the leather nite before hand....lol.

Here gay rights are still an issue where a small but growing community is trying to change Pride to a, celebration of diversity festival for all to share in....but that said,if too many straight people get involved then will it loose it's gayness...now that sounds daft but, well whilst we want to blend, be accepted...involve the larger community in Pride, it does kinda dilute the spirit of what is happening on the day...Yes...No...what do you think.

PRIDE Day here in 'Toon is celebrated by the gay community with sponsors of business both gay and gay-positive. We always invite the 'str8 but not narrow' to march along side us. For the most part... those that march and take part are the PFLAG members.

However, this year what was important, a couple of ministers, one Anglican, one Unitaran, participated in the march and rally. Also, every year the Union of Teachers march along side us with 25 or so members.

The functions, are generally celebrated by us queers alone... with a few str8 friends. All are invited to Family Day in the Park, and The Pride Crnivale. But the week is still mostly 100% queer.
