Okay, I'll have to read his whole article and get back to you on that... As I said before, I am glad it wasn't the glorified cowboy romance that so many expected. It relates sadly to many of the types of men we've had here at our little home on the web as well. Thanks for the link, Vince!

Yada Yada Yada... I think the reviewer is very proud of his cleverness and his "fathering" the metrosexual movement.

Although, I would agree the director did seem afraid or self-conscious about showing man-on-man love, both physically and emotionally. There is more sex between Ennis and his wife than between the two cowboys. And there is more emotional feeling between Ennis and his girlfriend than the two cowboys. And the reviewer is right, I never could figure out how the ranch boss figured out the two cowboys were lover. They could of at least had him view the cowboys shagging through the lens of the binocular.

The reviewer is uneducated. It was implied in the movie but spelled out in the short story.

"They never talked about the sex, let it happen, at first only in the tent at night, then in full daylight with the hot sun striking down ..... There were only the two of them on the mountain, flying in the euphoric, bitter air .... They believed themselves invisible, not knowing Joe Aguirre had watched them through his 10x42 binocuclars for ten minutes one day."

It is a fantastic movie about missed opportunities and letting fear steal from you the most beautiful thing that can happen in life: love.
