I was married to a women for 31 years and have 4 biological children and 4 adopted child-
ren. I recently came out, am divorced now, and

Hey, Todd, we'll have to do some digging. There must be a gay group locally in Iowa somewhere. You'd be surprised at how many gay men are in rural areas. Around here a couple of groups meet socially once a month doing little potluck dinners and picinics. Maybe you could start such a group.

Personally, I know lots of gay men in central Pennsyvania, but I'd love to find more of them who have children and want to hang out for play times.

I really need to get out here more often and read! I had a conversation this past weekend about how do you go about finding other couples to befriend, especially if you're (a) not into the bar scene, and (b) not looking to hook up for sex? We are looking for other singles/couples in the area to socialize with (dinners, movies, play cards, hike, camp, etc). It seems to be impossible! I've been looking for some time now with no success. Does anyone have any suggestions?

A lot of areas these days seem to be doing these pot luck dinners for social gatherings in other people's homes. Do you have a glbt website or hotline in your area? Try looking to see if you can find such a thing exists.

If it doesn't, you might consider whether you have the desire/connections and energy to make it happen on your own (that's what I did with Gay Fatherhood. If you can't find an organization you like, start your own! lol)
