On the Door Step! |
Happy New Year, gents. My name is Rex and my partner of three years is Steve and we joined this board today. We have six kids ages 20 to 7--four boys and two girls--and a big dog. We live in Lafayette Colorado, which is between Denver and Boulder in Colorado. My two boys live with us full time, and my daughter and Steve's three kids are with us as much as possible, but about half time. We are both divorced and fortunately we have good relationships with our ex-spouses. It's a hectic life, but everyone is having a pretty good time.
We are joining this group to network with other gay dads worldwide. If any of you have recommendations of good Spring Break destinations for a crowd like us we would love to hear about it. We went to Maui two years ago, and to San Diego last year. Thanks for your suggestions. I will add pictures later for your amusement. Cheers Rex |

Rex and Steve! Sensational to "meet" you. That certainly sounds hectic. My three boys only stay with me part time, so the five of us together only sometimes get a bit hectic. Sounds like you're enjoying the life though, and that's great.
Worldwide, you'll find quite a few of us from the Eastern US, several out west and a few south. But we also have a few Canadians among us as well and other regulars like Vince from Northern Ireland and Jorge from Belgium. We also have a few who pop into the message boards from time to time from some other far off places, including Australia and Eastern Europe. At one time we had a world map and I think that would be fun to get that feature going again. Guys, as you always do so well, please make our newcomers here feel welcome! Taken over the Remote! |
I went with my 9 year old daughter to Maui last year and we had a great time. It was so good just have one on one bonding time. If you had as good a time as we did, it will be a hard vacation to top. We found craigslist/hawaii a good source for bargain rentals. I'm sure where ever you decided to go that it would bea good source for there as well - as it's in locations world-wide. Lately I've been looking at international volunteer options as a way of vacationing in other parts of the world that would feel less touristy. GlobalAware an Cross-Cultural Solutions both seem good choices for short-term (one to two weeks) volunteer vacation opportunities.

Hello and welcome!!
If I could just tell you that I have just recently learn to really appreciate how supportive this group is. I joined over a month ago, and have been welcomed warmly. I hope I can help you find the same. Vacation.... Well, since skiing is your backyard playground, I guess that is out for a nice family vacation... Unless, you travel to some of the international ski resorts (have never been, but sounds like fun). I am partial to Italy, it is a beautiful vacation spot, especially Venice. It is super affordable if you book in advance as well. Best wishes, and good luck. Michael HOUTX |

Hello,
Last summer I took my daughter and four of her friends to Rehoboth Beach, DE. We had a fantastic time. Yes...me and FIVE teenage girls for a week. Whoo Hoo! Paul from Pittsburgh |

I adore Rehoboth. Brian and I have taken the boys there a couple of times too. And I highly recommend Cape May as well. ESPECIALLY if you like Birding, or even just Victorian house touring.
